Description:
Psalm 47 points us to King Jesus, who even today sits at the Father’s right hand, and will one day return to fully establish His rule and reign on earth. The Lord’s victory over the Assyrians was only a foretaste of Christ’s final victory over every earthly ruler and authority. Our response to the exaltation of Christ today is the same response we hear from those of Judah in Psalm 47.

First, we must call all the peoples of the earth to submission to Christ. Our knowledge of the end should compel us to declare the Gospel to all people. Second, we must give God authentic worship. Worship is RESPONDING with all you are—mind, emotion, and will—to the REVELATION of God. When we see God’s sovereign rule and covenant love revealed, we must respond appropriately—with joy and surrender. This type of authentic response bears witness to God’s glory among the nations. Finally, we must hope in the ultimate exaltation of Jesus. As the people of Christ, our confidence does not lie in what is seen, but what is unseen. Our faith in God compels us to believe that the best is yet to come.
