Serve One

It is an honor, privilege, and responsibility to serve the Lord through the local church. We desire for every member to find his or her place to serve for the Aug 2019-Aug 2020 year.

Leaders will train and prepare you for your area of service. You are welcome to continue in the same ministry you are currently serving or sign up to serve in more than one area. We only ask that whatever you choose, you serve with a high level of commitment and faithfulness.

In addition to completing the Serve One Commitment form below, all preschool, children, & student volunteers must complete a Volunteer Application, Background Check, and Child Protection Training.

Volunteers serve on Sunday mornings on a rotating schedule, unless otherwise noted.

  • Parking Lot Greeter – Offer directions and assistance in the parking lot.
  • Door Greeters – Offer a friendly welcome to people as they arrive.

Valet Parking

Provide parking service at the main entrance before and after service. Valet attendants must be at least 18 years old.

Bus Drivers

Drive people to and from Valley Trails Apartments.

Safety Team

Provide a safe environment for members and guests to gather. [Sundays, Mondays (PM), or Wednesdays (PM); rotating schedule]

Guest Engagement
  • Welcome Desk – Offer information to answer questions or provide directions.
  • Hospitality Room – Answer questions and connect with guests. You will also help those looking for resources in their walk with Christ.
  • Coffee Bar – Responsible for replenishing coffee, water and some cleanup.
  • Ushers – Men & women who welcome and assist people in finding seats in the Sanctuary.

Make sure that all necessary baptismal equipment and facilities are available and ready prior to each baptismal service. Perform necessary cleanup after the baptism.

Kids at Praise

A musical learning and training experience to engage and equip children for meaningful worship through singing. [2nd, 4th, and 5th Wednesdays, 6:30-7:30 p.m.]

Media Team
  • Screens Operator – Run slides during services for songs and announcements.
  • Lighting Operator – Provide proper lighting for services and special events.
  • Camera Operator – Set up and video the services for the lobby and web live feed.
  • Front of House Sound Tech – Mix the live audio elements of the service
Music Ministry

Choir – Sing in both services and lead people to praise God. Meet for rehearsals on Sundays, 4:30–5:45 p.m. [weekly]

Orchestra & Band – Play an instrument in both services and the Prayer Gathering. Meet for rehearsals one weeknight a month. [play on Sundays (AM) & Wednesdays (PM); weekly]

Prayer Partner

Pray with individuals as they come to the front of the sanctuary during the invitation portion of the service.

Prayer Ministry Team

Receive weekly prayer requests through email and be devoted to powerful and effective prayer.

Preschool & Children’s Check-in

Help young families feel welcome and secure as they check in and guide guests to the appropriate room.

  • Preschool Shepherd Leaders – Shepherd preschoolers in Community Groups on a weekly basis. Lay foundations in preschoolers’ lives creating a loving and secure environment and help them learn foundational biblical truths. [8:15, 9:30, or 11:00 a.m.; weekly]
  • Preschool Worship Care – Care for children (birth through Pre-K) during 9:30 or 11:00 a.m. service. [once every other month (six times a year)]
Children Shepherd leaders and Substitutes

Shepherd children in Community Groups. Encourage them to develop Christ-centered relationships around the Word of God through The Gospel Project curriculum and prayer. [8:15, 9:30, or 11:00 a.m.; weekly]

Special Needs Support

Minister to a preschooler, child, or student with special needs as they attend their Community Group or support their family during the service.

  • Student Shepherd Leaders – Lead a student Community Group to trust and follow Christ by ministering the word, cultivating community among students, and working alongside parents.
  • Student Host Homes – Host events, sleepovers, Bible study or even provide food for certain events. This would be on an “as needed” basis.
  • Student Prayer Warrior – Change the trajectory of a student’s life by committing to pray for an assigned student and keep in touch with them.
  • Community Group Shepherd Leader – Lead an adult Community Group to trust and follow Christ by ministering the word to the group and leading them to live in community together.
  • Member Care Team – Assist the pastors in contacting and pursuing members who have not been attending church. The goal is to do all we can to see that our members are faithfully attending, actively involved and walking with the Lord.
  • Senior Adult Care Team – Regularly contact select Senior Adult members of our church who are unable to attend a Community Group to assure they are physically, emotionally, and spiritually well; you will make the Deacons aware of any needs.
  • Women’s Ministry – Cultivate inter-generational discipleship among the women of MacArthur Blvd through personal discipleship, facilitating classes, and serving at women’s events.
  • Marriage Mentor – Mentor couples within MacArthur Blvd who seek premarital, marriage enrichment, or marital crisis mentoring. Training is provided.
Hospitality & Food Service
  • Special Church-wide Events – Work with the pastors to plan and schedule Church-wide events, Semiannual Member Meetings, and the Ron Dunn Encourager Conference by setting tables, assisting with food service, and cleanup. [about 4 times/year]
  • Grief Ministry – Serve a funeral meal for the family when a member passes away. Volunteers needed to help serve food and cleanup.

Serve as a Compassion Counselor or a Financial Coach. Work as a team to provide short-term assistance with long-term spiritual and financial freedom. The goal is that each candidate will know the Lord and walk faithfully with Him and understand Biblical stewardship principles. [as needed]

First Contact Ministry

Make home visits to Sunday guests to show Christ’s love, provide information, and answer questions that about Christ or the church. Contact guests within two days of their first visit. [weekly]

English as a Second Language (ESL)

Share the love and truth of Jesus with internationals and immigrants while helping them learn English. (Available roles:  teach, teacher support, hospitality, prayer, administration, security, etc.)[Mondays, 6:30-8:30 p.m.; August-May, weekly]

Love Muslim Neighbors

Actively intercede for, naturally encounter, and intentionally engage the ever-growing population of Muslims within the local community. [as needed]

Love Asian Indians

Express love by building relationships with Asian Indians in the Irving area. Provide practical ways to help them adjust to life in America. [as needed]

Mission Action Teams

Oversee and/or assist the missions efforts for a specific location. Currently support:  Montenegro, East Asia, North America, and local community. [as needed]

  • Overflow Leader – Be present on a weekly basis to assist with programing and small groups on Sundays, 6:00-7:30 p.m.
  • Event Driver – Assist with driving students to their events. [as needed]
  • Awana Leader – Be a group leader, game time assistant, or missions leader. Help children complete scripture memory and special projects. (3-year-olds through 5th grade) [Sundays, 6:00-7:30 p.m.; September–May, weekly]
  • Special Events – Oversee children as a sponsor at a retreat, camp or field trip. [as needed]
Barbara Bush Middle School
  • Mentor a Student  – Share your love of Christ with a middle school student. Many of these kids come from broken families and just need someone to be consistent in their lives. Mentors meet with their student once a week at school during lunch.
  • Prayer Partner – Intercede through prayer on behalf of the mentors engaging with the middle school students.
  • Teacher Appreciation – Bless the teachers and faculty through providing snacks, treats, or small gifts. The first week of May.
  • Service Project – Once a year volunteers focus on beautifying their campus through organizing, painting, and cleaning.
After School Bible Clubs

Lead games, provide snacks, teach Bible lessons, and build relationships with elementary students. Meet in local school on Mondays, 2:45-4:15 p.m. [September-May, weekly]

Beautiful Feet

Engage people at local parks, nursing homes, and homes. Pray for opportunities to have gospel conversations.

Prison Ministry

Mentor offenders by building relationships with the purpose of changing hearts and minds through the good news of Jesus Christ.

Crisis Ministries

Assist at local food pantry in downtown Irving that provides food, spiritual counseling, financial assistance, and other needs. [as needed]

Full training provided for each area of service.

Office Volunteers

Duties may include answering the phone, making phone calls, or assisting with large mailings. [during the week; as needed]

Offering Count Teams

Process the weekly offering. [Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday during office hours, rotating schedule]

Facilities Ministry

Work with the staff to maintain the building and grounds.

Event Host/Hostess

Host member events at the church (baby showers, bridal showers, etc.). Open and close the building, answer questions and ensure the event runs smoothly. [usually Saturdays, as needed]
