God is building one thing in this world, which was described well by Jesus when He told His disciples, “I will build my church.” Everything God is doing in the world He is doing in and through His church.There is no plan B for God. God doesn’t need a plan B; He only has a plan A, and God’s plan A for accomplishing His purposes in the world is the church.
While God has not given up on the church, many professing Christianity have. Some merely see the church as optional—simply an amenity that is there should you need it and have time for it. Others see the church as an obstacle to what God wants to do in the world. We need a paradigm shift in modern American Christianity thinking about the church back to God’s original design.
