Joyful Hearts with Tearful Eyes

1 Peter 1:6-9

Description:
It does us no good to pretend that because we’re Christians, our life is hunky-dory. Life is hard. Every day we will encounter trials of various sizes that cause us grief and sorrow. Let’s stop pretending and just own it! We hurt; we grieve; many times, we are an emotional mess.

According to Peter, what makes us different as believers is not that our lives are easy. Instead, what makes us stand out is that we have joy in our hearts even with tears in our eyes. Joy does not equal the absence of grief according to Peter. Joy is a deeply rooted satisfaction and peace built upon our unfailing hope as Christians.
