Description:
The very first verse of 1 Peter introduces the central theme of the letter with a two-word description of the Christians to whom Peter wrote: “elect exiles.” With these two words, Peter makes a powerful statement about our identity in Christ, defining our relationship with God and the world. We are the chosen of God but live as exiles in the world. If you are a Christian, you are by definition an outsider, living in a land that is not your home.
