It is deep affection that produces extravagant actions. What causes people to sacrifice comfort, security, and relationships to serve God in the world’s most difficult places? It is a deep love for Christ that compels us to do extraordinary things for Christ. Remember, the ultimate goal of the Christian life is not obedience; love is. Rather than work really hard at doing all the right things out of a sense of duty, focus on cultivating a deeper love for Christ. Obedience flows out of love.
