The Best Is Yet to Come

Ruth 1-4
The Book of Ruth

Description:
There are two sides to every story—the human side and the divine side. Behind all the twists and turns of life there is a sovereign God working all things together for our satisfaction and His glory. John Piper says it well:

“Life is not a straight line leading from one blessing to the next and then finally to Heaven. Life is a winding and troubled road. Switchback after switchback. And the point of biblical stories like Joseph and Job and Esther and Ruth is to help us feel in our bones (not just know in our heads) that God is for us in all these strange turns.”

If Ruth has shown us anything, it has shown us that there are no insignificant moments in life. God is behind the scenes working in every circumstance to bring about His good purposes. Prepare for Sunday by taking some time to read the entire book of Ruth 2-3 times. Try to do this at least once in one sitting. It will only take you 15-20 minutes. Ask God to help us as a church body to feel, not merely know, that He is for us in the midst of life’s troubled roads.
