When the Church Sees Her King

Description:
We look at the first letter Christ writes to the church in Ephesus. This church was sound in doctrine and refused to compromise its purity. They had only one problem: they had abandoned the love they had at first. Prepare for this Sunday by reading Revelation 2:1-7 and mediating on what it means to abandon your first love. Remember, the solution to every problem each church faces correlates to the way Christ is described in the first verse of each letter. Meditate on the description of Christ walking “among the seven golden lamp stands.” The lamp stands represent the churches. What does the symbol of a lamp stand communicate about the purpose of the church, and how does this vision address the problem of a loss of passion?
