Description:
This Sunday we will resume our series through Revelation 2-3 by looking at Christ’s letter to the church in Thyatira (Revelation 2:18-29). The church in Thyatira shares much in common with the church in Pergamum, only the situation appears to be even more severe. Whereas the focus in Pergamum was on submitting to Christ by refusing compromise, the focus in Thyatira is on Christ’s purifying judgment. Christ introduces Himself in this letter as the one whose eyes and feet are on fire. Fire represents the purifying judgment of Christ. This passage is going to require us to consider the judgment of Christ. Prepare for Sunday by reading this passage and considering the following questions: Does Jesus judge Christians? If so, how does His judgment toward His children differ from His judgment toward the lost? What are some ways that Jesus may judge His people according to this letter? Join me in prayer for Sunday that the Lord will stir in our hearts a healthy fear of God and deeper understanding of the seriousness of sin.
